Kenneth Schmutz, a special agent with the FBI Cyber Task Force, Omaha Division, will be presenting “Current Cyber Threats” on Tuesday, October 18 at 1 pm in the Nebraska City Union.

The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating cyber attacks by criminals, overseas adversaries, and terrorists. Cyber intrusions are becoming more commonplace, more dangerous, and more sophisticated. Schmutz will highlight the agency’s current efforts and what universities and individuals can do to mitigate risk.

The presentation is part of the Information Security Special Interest Group (SIG) sponsored by UNL Information Technology Services, as part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The session will also be streamed live via http://connect.unl.edu/securitysig
