Summer has quickly come to a close and Fall Semester is upon us! W.H. Thompson staff welcomes you, and we are looking forward to an exciting school year! Whether you are a new or returning Scholar to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, we have developed academic, life skills, and social events that will help you succeed academically at the University and build lasting relationships with fellow Scholars, staff and other professionals on campus. As Dr. Goodburn said during Saturday New Student Orientation, the single most important factor in being successful in college are the relationships. So remind yourself to keep building those relationships and our office doors are always open. Start with our staff.
As we embark on this new year, it is essential to remember the importance of new beginnings. If you are a first-year student just starting your academic career, in the middle of your academic journey, or a senior looking ahead towards graduation, challenge yourself to try something new, learn something new, and meet someone new. No matter what happened last year or last semester, you have a new opportunity step outside your comfort zone, maybe you should study abroad, or intern out of state, learn new information from a professor, and build new relationships. Don’t forget, you are not alone. The W.H. Thompson staff is here to help you throughout the year and looks forward to guiding you through the opportunities and obstacles that you will encounter over the course of your college experiences.
