Hometown: Omaha, NE

Major: Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) with an emphasis in Event planning and a minor in Leadership and Communication. I discovered my passion for planning events after I did an internship for the Office of Admissions as an Event Management intern the first semester of my sophomore year. I immediately switched my major after the first semester and have loved every part about being in the HRTM program.

Year in school: 5th year senior, I graduate December 2014.

Favorite Food: Mint Chocolate chip Ice-cream

Random fact about yourself: I've bungee jumped over a 265 ft bridge, in the rain while I was studying abroad in Costa Rica.

Something you have learned as a W.H. Thompson Scholar: The WHT community has help shaped me to be a better student by teaching me more effective ways to study for tests, and tips to balance school and work. The WHT community has helped guide me through college with tutors and mentors that have encouraged me to take advantage of opportunities and to network.

Something you love most about being a W.H. Thompson Scholar: I enjoy the social events, getting to interact with other students and make friends. I had such a great sense of community throughout college. The mentors are a great help, giving me advice when I needed it.

Something you are looking forward to this year as a W.H. Thompson Scholar: I am looking forward to the social events such as bowling and rock climbing. I am also looking forward to the academic writing session, I feel I can always improve in my writing.


Where you see yourself in 10 years: In 10 years I see myself owning my own event planning business. I will specialize in high-profiled events, weddings and conferences. I will have my masters in marketing and will be living in Australia or in Houston, Texas. Hopefully by then I will be married to my college sweet heart and traveling all over the world.
