International Education Week noted at UNL Nov. 12-19

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will celebrate International Education Week with a variety of activities focusing on international education on campus Nov. 12-19.
An initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education, International Education Week was first held in 2000, and today is celebrated in more than 100 countries. It promotes the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide by promoting international understanding and building support for international educational exchange through programs that prepare students to live and work in a global environment and to attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States. International education, according to the federal government, is a vital service industry contributing more than $15.5 billion to the U.S. economy.
The following events are free and open to the public:
Thursday, Nov. 12: E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues: "China: Fragile Superpower," by Susan Shirk, Lied Center for Performing Arts, 7 p.m.
Monday-Friday, Nov. 16-20: International display, Nebraska East Union.
Tuesday, Nov. 17: International Student Organization International Food Bazaar, Nebraska Union, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; permanent residence seminar, Office of International Affairs, 420 University Terrace, 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 18: Career Services workshop, "Going Global: Finding Jobs in the U.S. and Abroad," Nebraska Union, 4 p.m..
Thursday, Nov. 19: Edythe Wiebers, International Studies scholarship presentation, Nebraska Union, 4 p.m.
