"Stomp" in performance

The smash hit production "Stomp" is back and wowing audiences once again. This thrilling show will make a return appearance at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at 7:30p.m. Feb. 9 and 10.

"'Stomp' is as crisp and exuberant as if it had opened yesterday," declared the New York Times, while the Chicago Tribune calls it, "a phenomenal show! Bashing, crashing, smashing, swishing, banging and kicking -- a joyous invention!" Using only household objects like garbage can lids, sinks, brooms, plungers, buckets (and their own bodies) to create rhythms, the cast members put on extraordinary physical theater laced with music, dance and humor. The international sensation, created and directed by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, has returned better than ever, with more than a few new tricks up its sleeve. To their fans' delight, segments of the show have been updated and restructured, and two new full-scale routines involving tractor tires and paint cans have been added.

Having performed in more than 350 cities in 36 countries worldwide, "Stomp" continues its phenomenal 15-year run with the ongoing sell-out Off-Broadway production at New York's Orpheum Theatre, a North American tour, and two productions overseas: a London company and a European tour. "Stomp," an overwhelming success marked by rave reviews, numerous awards and sell-out engagements, is the winner of an Olivier Award for Best Choreography (London's Tony Award), a New York Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatre Experience, and a Special Citation from Best Plays.
