Klezmer clarinet virtuoso David Krakauer will collaborate with long-time James Brown trombonist Fred Wesley and beat architect Socalled to create an all-out klezmer-funk dance party when Abraham Inc. rocks the stage at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. March 6.

Combine the expert skill of a klezmer clarinetist with one of the great masters of funk, the beats of a young hip hop renegade, plus a three-piece horn section and members of Klezmer Madness! and you've got the recipe for music brilliance. While firmly rooted in traditional klezmer folk tunes, Abraham Inc. "hurls the tradition of klezmer music into the rock era" (The New York Times), creating uniquely irresistible grooves that another reviewer calls "a musical cocktail." Krakauer, an internationally acclaimed clarinetist, is known for his mastery of styles, including classical chamber music, eastern European Jewish klezmer music and avante garde improvisation. Wesley, called "the torchbearer of old-school funk," is the longtime music director and trombonist for soul legend James Brown. Socalled, a multi-talented artist versed in the piano and accordion, now creates hybrid beats that blend hip hop and klezmer music.

A sold out concert in Carnegie Hall in December 2006 marked the start of their collaborative venture, which was also met with rave reviews and a resounding audience response at Transmusical de Rennes, one of the largest rock festivals in Europe. Abraham Inc. made its official debut at the famous Apollo Theatre in New York City and subsequently began a national and international tour, with a CD on the way.
