'Broadway Today' takes Lied Center stage Friday night

            The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present "Broadway Today" at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18.

            Tickets may be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, 301 N. 12th St., by phone at 402-472-4747 or online at www.liedcenter.org. Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $17.50 for youth.

            This concert features some of Broadway's brightest stars singing songs from "Book of Mormon," "Wicked," "The Lion King," "South Pacific" and many more smash hits.

            Among the Lied Center performers, David Burnham played Fiyero in the Broadway production of "Wicked," was a member of the original Broadway cast of the six-time Tony Award winning musical, "The Light In The Piazza," performing on both the Tony Awards and the PBS telecast, "Live From Lincoln Center." Burnham was the 2007 recipient of the prestigious "Helen Hayes Award" for best actor as well as the 2007 best actor "Garland Award" for his portrayal of Fabrizio Nacarelli in the national tour of "The Light In The Piazza."

            Jason Graae has starred on and off-Broadway in "A Grand Night For Singing," "Falsettos," "Stardust," "Forever Plaid," "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" (Drama Desk nomination for best actor in a musical) and many more.

            Jessica Hendy's Broadway credits include "Cats" in the role of Grizabella, "Aida" and "Amour." She toured the United States and Canada in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Cats."

            Christina Saffran Ahsford's career is extensive, starring in "Singin' in the Rain," "A Chorus Line" and "The Music Man." Audiences throughout the world have been thrilled by her leading performances in "My Fair Lady," "Showboat," "South Pacific," "Phantom of the Opera," . . . the list goes on. She has provided animated voices for Disney's "Aladdin," "Mulan," "Magic Flute," "102 Dalmatians," "A Bug's Life" and many others.

            A pre-show talk scheduled one half hour before the performance will be led by William Grange.   The talk, free to ticket holders, will be in the Lied Center's Steinhart Room.
