Lincoln, Neb., February 1st, 2013 —

Jacht Student Ad Lab, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's student advertising agency, has selected its staff for the spring 2013 semester. Eleven returning members will join 18 new students to continue Jacht's mission of providing advertising and integrated marketing concepts to a diverse group of clients.

Students were selected from a large pool of applicants. The selection process included a resume and portfolio review, and an interview with Jacht faculty and student leadership.

"This semester the competition for spots at Jacht increased tremendously, a sign we are building a strong reputation as a great opportunity for UNL students,” said Amy Struthers, associate professor of advertising and public relations, and the lead faculty member at the student ad lab.

Brian Reid and Chuck Piper are also faculty at Jacht, bringing deep professional experience in PR and ad agency management.

Jacht students include majors in advertising and public relations, marketing, graphic design, economics and business administration. The agency seeks to reach across the UNL campus to bring together highly motivated students from any major who are passionate about applying their knowledge and skills to the advertising and public relations fields.

As a unique education/startup hybrid, Jacht provides UNL students with the real-world experience of running an ad agency. Mentorship and support from investment group Nebraska Global and local ad agencies Bailey Lauerman and Swanson Russell have propelled Jacht into a self-sustaining entrepreneurial startup.

Current Jacht clients include Nebraska Shrine Bowl, EcSELL Institute, Iguana's, SMG/Pinnacle Bank Arena, Executive Travel, the Nebraska State Stroke Association and the Raikes School Design Studio.

Jacht began in fall 2010 as UNL's first student advertising agency. Youthful passion for experimentation with social media, digital production, mobile media and other emerging technologies generates a unique student "ad lab" experience that yields professional and engaging strategies. Jacht offers clients professional solutions to communications issues while allowing students to learn, explore, analyze and test ideas within the constantly evolving advertising industry.
