The College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present an exhibition "Looking for Trouble: 6 Houses in Austin, Texas" by Alterstudio Architecture LLP of Austin, opening Sept. 24.

Kevin Alter, principal of Alterstudio Architecture LLP will lecture about his work at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, 313 N. 13th St., followed by a First Friday closing reception at the College of Architecture, 10th and R streets, from 5:30 to 7:30.

Alterstudio Architects LLP specializes in the material facts of architecture and the social occasions it shelters and invites. The firm's work has won many design awards, including the Housing Award from the American Institute of Architects and Design Excellence awards from the American Society of Interior Design and the International Interior Design Association. The six houses presented in this exhibition each begin with seeking out and engaging the conflicts intrinsic to their individual circumstances, and demonstrate a set of strategies for a contemporary single-family home.

"These houses are rooted in deep-seated virtues of architecture -- generous space-making, shrewd manipulation of day lighting, and meticulous attention to detail," Alter said. "The heightening of direct human experience and the framing of the complex circumstances of their situations are at the core of each project."

The lecture, closing reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The exhibition runs through Oct. 4 and is open to public viewing Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the College of Architecture.
