Leading dancers from across Russia will bring "Cinderella" to life at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. May 1, marking the last performance of the Lied Center's 2013-2014 season of world-class events.

The Moscow Festival Ballet dancers will present "Cinderella" under the direction of legendary Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Sergei Radchenko. Tickets, starting at $29 for adults and $14.50 for students, are available at http://www.liedcenter.org, at the Lied Center Box Office, 301 N. 12th St., or by phone at 402-472-4747.

"We have had many incredible dance performances happen on our stage this season," said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied Center. "The Moscow Festival Ballet is led by one of the Bolshoi's legends. These gifted dancers combined with 'Cinderella's' majestic costumes and stunning choreography will illuminate this magical and classic fairy tale for all ages."

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company that would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet. Under Radchenko's direction, dancers have forged an exciting new company staging new productions of timeless classics such as "Giselle," "Don Quixote," "Paquita" and "Carmen."

Born in 1944, Radchenko graduated from the Moscow School of Dance in 1964 and joined the Bolshoi Ballet, where he worked for 25 years. He danced the entire repertoire at the Bolshoi, but enjoyed a special reputation for Spanish dance, particularly the role of the bullfighter in the Bizet-Schedrin Carmen Suite. He is the founder and artistic director of the Moscow Festival Ballet and has achieved a remarkable feat in the establishment and development of this young-but-great Russian ballet company. Radchenko presents a large number of master classes, inviting leading teachers from the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres to ensure the continuation of the rich traditions of the Russian classical school.

This presentation is made possible in part by a grant from Patron Friend Sponsors Dr. Cori S. Amend and Ryan Sothan and Kris L. Baack.
