OK Go to perform 2 free shows for UNL students at Lied Center Sept. 11-12

            The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present alternative rock band OK Go on Sept. 11 and 12 for two free performances, exclusive to UNL students. Each show begins at 7:30 p.m.

            Perhaps best known for being the band that introduced the world to treadmill choreography, OK Go has earned legions of followers for its infectious tunes and countless viral videos, one of which earned the band a Grammy. UNL students may reserve their tickets through the Lied Center's Arts for All program via UNL Marketplace, http://marketplace.unl.edu/liedcenter. Any remaining tickets can be picked up by UNL students on either performance night.

            OK Go's free concert marks the start of the Lied Center's "Big Red Lied Experience" initiative which will provide the opportunity for more than 4,000 UNL students to attend a Lied Center performance in just two days.

            "The Lied Center's vision is that every University of Nebraska-Lincoln student graduates having had at least one professional arts performance at the Lied as a part of their college experience," said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied Center. "To support this vision, the Lied Center has led the way nationally, designing ways for students to see world-class performances at affordable prices while also providing transformative engagement opportunities with Lied artists. The Big Red Lied Experience will make the Lied Center one of the most student-attended performing arts centers in the nation."

            Joining OK Go for the performances is UNL's premier male a cappella group, the Bathtub Dogs. Fun and humor are as much a part of the group as their inspiring vocal talent which has led them to the national a cappella scene.

            Annually, UNL students can get free tickets to many of the Lied's top performances. The majority of free tickets are released on the first day of classes in the fall and spring.
