Morrill Hall offers free admission for Family Fun Night Nov. 13

            The University of Nebraska State Museum invites children and families to the museum for a night of fun and activities from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 13 in Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus. There will be free museum admission during the program.

            Special activities will include a scavenger safari throughout Morrill Hall, a special project exploring the strangest creatures ever to inhabit the Earth, interactive stations to learn about fossils, dinosaurs and how birds use their beaks. Families can sing-along with the children's entertainment group, The String Beans, during a special live performance in Elephant Hall at 6. The group will bring back old favorites like "Diggin' Dinosaurs" and "Right Here in Nebraska," plus introduce new songs off their latest album, "Kangaroo Stew." Mueller Planetarium will present a special free show and families can register to win prizes from the NU State Museum and The String Beans.

            The String Beans were founded in 2004 when brothers Curt and Randy Bright formed the friendliest family band in Nebraska. Their wacky on-stage antics and dance-tastic songs are perfect entertainment for pre-school through elementary-aged audiences, as well as their parents and teachers. The String Beans music is a fun mix of rock, country, blues, pop, polka and even a little rap, teaching about things like astronomy, nature, language and Nebraska history.
