Media advisory: Innovation Campus private tour, ribbon cutting Oct. 8

Lincoln, Neb., October 6th, 2015 —

Media are invited to a private Oct. 8 tour of Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive, and to join officials and dignitaries at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony one day before the new campus' public grand opening.

NIC is a research campus designed to facilitate new and in-depth partnerships between the university and private-sector businesses. At full build-out, NIC will be a 2.2-million-square-foot campus with uniquely designed buildings and amenities that inspire creative activity and engagement, transforming ideas into global innovation.

On Oct. 8, the tour will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the NIC Conference Center and will last about 45 minutes. At 4:30 p.m., members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Maker Club will execute a unique ribbon cutting in the NIC Commons and Conference Center Auditorium to officially open the campus.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman; NIC Executive Director Dan Duncan; Interim Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Ronnie Green; University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds; Gov. Pete Ricketts and Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler will be on hand for the Oct. 8 ceremony.

The next day, Oct. 9, NIC will host a public open house, with public tours beginning at 4 and 4:30 p.m. The Nebraska Alumni Association will host Football Friday at NIC from 5 to 7 p.m.
