INNOCENTS SOCIETY Thirteen Outstanding Juniors Selected for 2009-2010 Membership in Innocents Society EMILY ALTHOUSE Emily Althouse, daughter of Steven and Tamara Althouse of Waverly, is an Elementary Education major. Emily is an NSE orientation leader, a co-chair in NHRI, and a rank leader in the Cornhusker Marching Band. Emily is a family relations representative for Dance Marathon and a Board member for the Scarlet Guard (Student Alumni Association). Emily is a Regents Scholar as well as a UNL Top Scholars Award winner. SCOTT BARKER Scott Barker, son of Ron and Kathryn Barker of Omaha, is majoring in Biological Systems Engineering with a minor in Energy Science. Scott is the president of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, as well as a co-chair for the Nebraska Human Resources Institute and an orientation leader for NSE. Scott was a family representative for Dance Marathon and is the recording secretary for the Engineering Student Advisory Board. Scott is on the College of Engineering Dean's List as well as the Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and is a nominee for the Outstanding Student Leader award. BRIAN COBURN Brian Coburn, son of Bill and Carol Coburn of Spearfish, SD, is a Biochemistry and Political Science double major with a Mathematics minor. Brian is a Kauffman Resident Assistant, a member of the Men's Soccer Club, the Chairman of ASUN's Committee for Fee Allocation and newly elected internal vice president. Brian is also a research assistant in Dr. Becker's Lab as well as a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Honors Program. Brian was a National Merit Finalist, FCLA Associate of the Year and is on the Dean's List. MEGAN COLLINS Megan Collins, daughter of Dan and Shelley Collins of Omaha, is a Business Administration major with minors in Political Science and Economics. Megan has served as the Special Topics Chair and as a Senator of the College of Business Administration and was recently elected ASUN President. Megan has served as Chi Omega Sorority's Personnel Chair and a New Student Enrollment (NSE) orientation leader. AMANDA CROOK Amanda Crook, daughter of John and Sara Crook of Nebraska City, is a Political Science major, with minors in English & Economics. Amanda is the New Member Educator for Alpha Phi sorority, as well as a UCARE researcher. CRAIG DAVIDSON Craig Davidson, son of Mark Davidson of Lamar and Roxie Davidson of Imperial, is an Agribusiness major. Craig is also a member of UNL FFA Alumni, and is a Department of Agricultural Economics Ambassador. Craig has received an American FFA Degree and is a Regents Scholar. COREY GEORGESEN Corey Georgesen, son of Dan and Deb Georgesen of Omaha, is a Biochemistry and Chemistry major with minors in History and Math. Corey is the Dance Marathon Facilities Manager, a member of The Big Event Executive team, a member of Beta Theta Pi and Order of Omega. Corey serves on the Honors Program Student Advisory Board and is a Presidential Scholar. Corey is also an award winner of the Barry M. STEPHEN KRUMLAND Stephen Krumland, son of Gary and Nancy Krumland of Lincoln, is a Spanish and Latin American Studies major, going into Pre-Medicine. Stephen is the Risk Manager for Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, a St. Elizabeth Hospital Volunteer, and a Resident Assistant in Neihardt Hall. Stephen also serves on the College of Arts & Sciences Student Advisory Board and is an Office of Admissions Honors Tour Guide as well as participating in a FOCUS Bible Study. SARA MCCUE Sara McCue, daughter of Mark McCue of Spearfish, SD, and Yolanda McCue of Alliance, is a News-Editorial and Broadcasting major. She is the vice president of the Mexican American Student Association, a copy editor for the Daily Nebraskan and a University Honors Ambassador. Sara participates in Relay for Life and the Big Event. MATTHEW PEDERSON Matthew Pederson, son of David Pederson of North Platte and Beth Forney of Alliance, is majoring in Secondary Education-Social Sciences. Matthew is the president of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Fraternity, Chairman of ASUN's Academic Committee, Treasurer of the CEHS Student Advisory Board and a morale captain for Dance Marathon. Karalynn previously served as Scholarship Chair and Standards Representative of Gamma Phi Beta and also former publications chair for Honors Ambassadors. She is has studied abroad in Spain and currently studying human rights in Estonia. Karalynn serves as a consultant for the UNL Writing Assistance Center, volunteers at the Lincoln Literacy Council and is a UCARE grant recipient. Karalynn is a Regents Scholar, a member of the honors program, on the Dean's list, and is a former Mortar Board notable. KELSEY BROWN Kelsey, daughter of Steve and Colleen Brown of Omaha, NE, is majoring in psychology and minoring in studio art and plans to attend nursing school. Kelsey is president of The Nebraska Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Recruitment Video Chairman for Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Health Assessment Chairman for the "Engineers Without Borders" service project in Madagascar this May.
