DROP-IN ADVISING

Drop-in advising is great for short questions about course information, grade option, completing forms and other things of that nature. Students should schedule an academic advising appointment to discuss degree plans and goal setting. Drop-in advising is available via zoom only, you will enter the Zoom waiting room at https://unl.zoom.us/my/casadvising and be seen in the order you entered.

Scholarship Opportunity for Communication Studies Juniors or Seniors

Apply for the Bill and Kathi Seiler Scholarship by December 5th for a $1000 award for the Spring 2024 semester.

Students meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply:

• Communication Studies major
• Junior or senior class standing
• Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above

In addition to these criteria, recipients should demonstrate involvement in activities within the Department of Communication Studies, College of Arts & Sciences, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and/or civic engagement in the campus or local community. Special consideration to First Generation students.

To apply, students should submit the following to Dr. Jordan Soliz (jsoliz2@unl.edu) by the due date: (a) current resume, (b) a 1-2 page letter addressing how your experiences match the criteria listed above, (c) unofficial transcript, and (d) name and contact information for two references that can speak to your academic achievements, involvement in the aforementioned activities, and/or leadership potential. Applicants will be notified prior to the Spring 2024 semester about decisions.

Key into Public Service Scholarship

The Phi Beta Kappa Society seeks online applications for the Key into Public Service Scholarship from arts, humanities, mathematics, social sciences, and natural sciences majors interested in career opportunities in local, state, and federal government. Scholarship recipients will receive $5,000 undergraduate scholarships and an educational conference experience in Washington, D.C. that will provide scholars with training, mentoring, and reflection on pathways into local, state, and federal government careers. Phi Beta Kappa membership is not required.

Characteristics of ideal recipients include intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary breadth and depth of arts and sciences coursework, leadership propensity, and service to others.
