School of Art, Art History & Design News- Student Edition

A Word From Director Francisco Souto

Dear Students of the School of Art, Art History & Design,

I am writing to let you all know that even though classes have been moved to remote access, we are ALL here to support you. I know we will all make the best of this situation and I hope we will all continue to move forward with uplifting spirit and positive attitude! During these uncertain times our primary concern is your health, welfare, and overall success. Please keep yourselves healthy!

I am incredibly proud of the love and support that everyone has shown. We realize that lives have truly been turned upside down. Although we are encouraged to practice social distancing we can still connect in creative ways. Continue to make those contacts and support one another.

The faculty have already begun working on alternative ways to meet your academic course objectives and our art office will be available for remote advising. Be patient as this transition is a process, since many of us are learning technology that we had not anticipated needing. Do not hesitate to reach out to any of us in the art office via email, phone or canvas if you have any questions or need support.

Priority registration has been moved to April 6th to allow everyone to adjust to changes being made. Please remember to check Canvas and your husker email accounts at least once a day in the upcoming weeks.
What we do as artists is more ephemeral and cannot be replicated digitally, but I would encourage you to think about how you might share your creative contributions in new and innovative ways.

Our calling as visual artists is to be engaging and to share with our community. Now, more than ever, we need to come together to discover what is possible.

All my best as always,

Francisco Souto
