Message from Bill Nunez about planning ahead for Nov. 21 building access
As we approach the end of the semester and finals week, I wanted to make sure you are all aware of a few items related to the first day of finals, November 21st. In addition to being the first day of finals, that Saturday is also a Husker home football game. The game is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
We need to make sure our buildings are secure while concurrently allowing full access for our university community. To this end, all members of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln community will be required to use an NCard to access academic buildings on City Campus that day. NCards for all active faculty, staff, and students will allow for building access and there is no need to acquire additional permissions. Academic buildings on East and Nebraska Innovation campuses will be open and NCards will not be needed to gain entry. NCards will not be needed to access campus buildings on City Campus on any other day of finals week.
In addition, while there will be no fans or tailgating allowed, teams, media, coaches, personnel, families and a significant amount of support vehicles will be present in and around Memorial Stadium that day. We also need to ensure our community has access to parking in the vicinity of Memorial Stadium to the extent possible. Game day activities may limit traffic flow and parking access around Memorial Stadium — primarily on the north, south and west sides. Students, faculty and staff coming to campus are encouraged to avoid the area for parking and to allow for more time due to potential delays. All other campus parking lots including those in Memorial Mall immediately east of Memorial Stadium will be open to permit holders. If you have any questions, please contact the Parking and Transit Services office.
Significant thought and effort has gone into preparing for this day and we hope and expect things will go smoothly!
Sincerely,
Bill Nunez, Ph.D.
