Teachers are busy, and teaching media literacy shouldn't mean spending hours creating lesson plans from scratch. That's why the Poynter Institute's media literacy brand MediaWise is introducing MediaWise Weekly on Sept. 10.

With support from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, this new initiative provides educators with a series of free, classroom-ready lessons that bring timely conversations about news, AI and digital information into their teaching and help students think critically about the information they encounter every day.
Ready every week
Each week, MediaWise Weekly pairs a video from Local News International co-founder and former Washington Post TikTok creator Dave Jorgenson with a ready-to-use mini lesson, making it easy to engage students with current events and real-world media examples.
Fits any subject
No matter what subject you teach, MediaWise Weekly is designed to fit naturally into your curriculum while helping students become more thoughtful consumers and creators of information.
As part of the launch, the first 1,000 educators who sign up will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Local News International's newsletters.
They'll also receive monthly MediaWise newsletters and weekly lesson plan alerts to support their classrooms throughout the school year.
