RSVP for Math Teachers Circle at NATS/NATM Conference

The Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics will hold its 2018 annual conference jointly with the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Science from Sept. 20-22 in Kearney.

The NebraskaMATH Partnership invites all who are heading to Kearney for the conference to join us a Math Teachers' Circle on Thursday evening, Sept. 20. The gathering will offer one session for K-12 teachers (elementary, secondary math, and secondary science) at the Younes Conference Center in room Ruby 6. The doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and presentations to follow at 7 p.m. RSVP by Sept. 12 here: https://goo.gl/forms/RH3B9yDRrRz7W0573

Cindy Beaman of Grand Island, Lisa Clapper of Minden, and Amy Wilson of Aurora will be presenting the session, Family Engineering. Family Engineering actively engages elementary-aged children and their families in fun, hands-on, engineering activities. Please note that although the activities come from a book aimed at elementary students and families, the activities for upper grades will be of interest to secondary math and science teachers as well.

Come and experience some exciting activities that use inexpensive, easy-to-find materials. These activities can be implemented in your school to positively influence attitudes about engineering as well as considering possible careers in the engineering field.
