NMSSI schedule now online

Take a look online at our newly released 2019 schedule for the Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI). Instructors are continuing to be confirmed and room locations will be added, so check back with the course catalog for updates.

We are offering 22 courses designed with K-12 math and science teachers in mind. See our catalog here: http://scimath.unl.edu/nmssi/2019/course-catalog/.

Courses go live in MyRED on Monday, Feb. 18. Official UNL registration in MyRED begins March 4. For all in-person NMSSI courses, current Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a tuition fellowship from UNL equal to 20 percent of resident graduate tuition. Additionally, Nebraska K-12 teachers can apply for supplemental NMSSI Fellowships to further defray tuition costs for NMSSI courses (funds are limited). See our NMSSI website for details. We expect that fellowship application to open during the week of March 4.

In addition to many courses offered in Lincoln, this summer we are partnering with Educational Service Units and local school districts to offer courses for teachers in Grand Island, Gretna, Hastings, La Vista, Kearney, North Platte, and Omaha. Faculty from UNL, UNO, and Wesleyan join our pool of instructors, as well as many master teachers drawn from the K-12 teacher ranks.

To broaden our ability to serve teachers from across the state, we will also offer two classes online in Summer 2019: one in mathematics (Math 808T), and one in statistics (STAT 812T). Unfortunately, the 20 percent tuition reduction does not apply to online courses. However, K-12 Nebraska teachers who take one of these online courses may apply for a supplemental fellowship to help defray tuition costs for these online courses.

Check out the NMSSI website at http://go.unl.edu/nmssi for updates on course offerings, information about registration, tuition and fees, and the availability of fellowships.
