Huskers After-School and Summer Learning Opportunities (HALO)

After-school and extended learning opportunities can have a life-changing influence on children. Research indicates that programs that support the learning that takes place during the school day can improve educational outcomes and build positive life skills. Thoughtfully crafted programs help boost students’ academic performance and increase the likelihood of graduating from high school (After School Alliance, 2014). These programs provide structure, support, and supervision that can help children succeed in the classroom.

SUMMER TUITION GRANT

The Summer Tuition Grant is a need-based grant available to Nebraska residents with high financial need who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors (by credit hours) who do not receive an existing summer full tuition award. Award amounts vary by enrollment in 3 or more credit hours of UNL coursework, including online classes, where UNL tuition and fees are assessed.

It’s likely that you qualify for more aid than you may realize,* so it’s always best to submit an application if you’re enrolling in summer courses.

Science Undergraduate Laboratories Internships

The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities.
