You will develop an understanding of the core concept of networking, learn and map out ways to grow your network, and determine networking goals for the semester while mixing with undergraduates, graduates, staff & faculty.

Award Winners photos 2022.jpgThe winners of the 2nd Annual UNL Microbiology Research Symposium were Mr. Matthew Perry, School of Biological Sciences, Graduate Poster Presentation Award Titled: "Rhizosphere collection method to identify low abundant taxa within the rhizobiome" and Ms. Sukaina Al-Hamedi, Biochemistry, Undergraduate Poster Presentation Award Titled: "Optimization of two peroxidase activity assays to determine pro-inflammatory activities of innate immune cell populations".

Undergraduate research positions in the fungal ecology lab

Are you interested in microbiology, fungi, molecular biology, and/or plant pathogens?

Come join us at the newly established Quantitative Fungal Ecology Lab (http://www.fungalecology.com) in the Department of Plant Pathology. We are seeking undergraduate researchers to assist in general laboratory practices, from isolating fungal pathogens to preparing DNA for sequencing and processing of raw data.

Nebraska Science Ambassador Program

The Nebraska Science Ambassadors Program (NESA) is an experiential learning program that will introduce students to basic principles of science communication, including online science communication and informal science education.

The program runs from Nov. 11 – Dec. 4 and will meet via Zoom each Friday from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. There is an in-person practicum experience on Dec. 4 at Morrill Hall in Lincoln, NE, with Eight-Legged Encounters, and then some survey participation after the Dec. 4 event. This program is perfect for juniors, seniors, or graduate students seeking to broaden their skillset before graduation.
