Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement's Engage Lincoln has arranged six opportunities for Huskers and RSOs to help nonprofits in Lincoln to address community needs.


Each day this week, there is a different 2-hour volunteer activity. No special skills are required. Explore and sign up for each option below.

City Impact
October 27 | 5 to 7 p.m.

City Impact, located in Lincoln Nebraska, empowers under-resourced communities by providing holistic youth, family, and neighborhood development programs and services.

Students will help by reading to youth, assisting them with homework, and facilitating activities (coloring, sports).

Belmont Community Center
October 28 | 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The mission of the Belmont Community Center is to identify and define the social, cultural, recreational and educational needs of the residents of the Northwest Lincoln community.

Students will help with facilitating activities for youth, sorting donations and cleaning.

Friendship Home
October 29 | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Friendship Home is an organization of people who are passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence and their children.

Students will do yard work, planting flowers and sorting donations.

Food Bank of Lincoln
October 30 | 1 to 3 p.m.

The Food Bank of Lincoln is a proud member of Feeding America. Since its founding in 1982, their mission has been to alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska.

Volunteers will organize a donations and distribute items to individuals.

F Street Community Center
October 31 | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“F” Street Community Center is committed to creating a safe, fun, recreation-based environment where children, adults and senior citizens can come together.

Students can help with facilitating activities for youth (foosball, coloring, basketball..etc).

Lincoln Parks Sunken Garden
November 1 | 9 to 11 a.m.

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Public Garden Section created the event to involve residents in the joy of gardening at Sunken Gardens.

Volunteers will help with dumping buckets of dirt into flower beds and turning the soil materials with a shovel. Participants should dress in work clothes, wear shoes and have gloves.
