The MyUNL academic portal will receive an upgrade of its Blackboard system on Saturday, May 11 from 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m. All access to Blackboard will be unavailable during this window. Faculty will not have access to the grade center on May 11 during this time window.
The upgrade includes a simplified user interface, as well as new features like test item analysis, more robust text editing and an improved discussion board. An additional new feature is a "Video Anywhere" button which allows the instructor to turn on their webcam to record and embed announcements in their courses. Popular existing features have also been retained in the service pack 11 upgrade.
All existing content in Blackboard will be retained, including any new Summer or Fall courses that faculty have started to build. "The May 11 date follows the close of the grade submission deadline," says Jeremy Van Hof, Teaching & Learning Tech Service Manager, Information Services. "It also gives faculty some time to acclimate to the new features over the Summer session."
Faculty are invited to preview MyUNL Blackboard's new look and features during a live demonstration, Wednesday, April 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. Remote connection will also be available and the event will be recorded.
