Employer in Residence: Hyland, creator of OnBase
What is your company culture like?
It’s awesome! Our culture is definitely our biggest strength. We take a lot of pride in the service we provide our customers, but we have a lot of fun at the office too. I think Hyland understands that happy employees are going to be much more engaged, and that mindset has really paid off. This year, Hyland was named to Fortune’s 100 “Best Companies to Work For” list, and our fun atmosphere has a lot to do with that recognition.
Why should a student want to work for your company?
Because no student should spend a quarter of their life working toward a career, and then dread going to work every day. As a CBA alum, I know it might be hard to imagine working for a technology company, but I’m so glad that I kept an open mind when looking for a job. I cannot imagine a better company to have started my career with. I think we have a lot to offer business students, especially those students who aren’t sure what they want to do professionally.
What majors/interest areas does your company typically seek?
We hire students from all over UNL, but the majority of our employees come from CBA. We’re much more concerned with a person’s skills than what their educational background. For example, we can teach anyone the technical skills necessary to be successful here, but we can’t teach people to be great communicators, great problem solvers, etc.
Do you currently have any open positions, if so, what are they?
Yes, we are currently looking for Technical Analysts to start in January! I like to describe it as a “business-technical hybrid” position.
