Summer internship positions through the Mid-America Transportation Center
There are two positions with the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency and the City of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Dept. Here is a brief description of tasks the students may be involved with during the internship:
Metro Area Planning Agency – Interns at MAPA generally work on MAPA’s traffic data analysis, data entry related to safety analysis and travel demand modeling, and work in ArcGIS, among other items. Interns will likely assist with the support and public outreach efforts for the 2050 MAPA Long Range Transportation Plan. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in planning and how data supports transportation decision-making. Familiarity with or interest in learning ArcGIS is recommended.
City of Lincoln – Interns should have a strong interest in traffic engineering and experience with Microsoft Office, technical report writing, and interactive teamwork.
Interested students can apply online or contact Amber Handefeldt ASAP. Online application: http://matc.unl.edu/education/intern-program.php.
