Fair Books will be mailed March 9 to all 4-H & FFA families who have enrolled through “4-H Online.” The Fair Book will also available at the Extension office and online.

Public Service Announcement Contest, Due March 16

State 4-H asks for PSA’s to be general enough to be used anywhere in Nebraska at anytime of the year.In the Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest, 4-H’ers submit a 60 second “radio commercial” promoting 4-H. Submit a PSA via CD to extension by Monday, March 16. The 2014 PSA theme is “4-H Grows...” Please use .wav or .mp3 audio formats when recording your PSA.

Speech Contest, March 22

The Speech and Public Service Announcement (PSA) contests provide 4-H’ers the opportunity to learn to express themselves clearly, organize their ideas and have confidence. The 4-H Speech Contest will be held Sunday, April 13 at the Lancaster Extension Education Center. Registration 1–1:30 p.m., contest begins 1:30 p.m. Register by March 16 by calling 402-441-7180 or emailing cmeador2@unl.edu with your name, speech title, age division.

New Livestock Quality Assurance Requirements

New this year, Quality Assurance training is NOT required for the Lancaster County Super Fair. ONLY 4-H/FFA members showing market beef, market sheep, market swine, meat and dairy goats, dairy cattle, poultry and rabbits at State Fair or the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Stock Show must complete the QA training. A 4-H'er practices with a precision-grade air rifle.Lincoln Shooting Stars 4-H club meetings are held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Nebraska Game & Parks Outdoor Education Center, 4703 N. 44th St., Lincoln.
