Summer camps offered for youth

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts offers a variety of camps for high school and middle school students who are interested in the arts.

• The Department of Art and Art History's Summer Art Institute is for high school students interested in visual arts. The Institute runs June 7-12. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/artcamp. Registration is open until the camp is full.

• The Glenn Korff School of Music's Summer Strings Festival for high school students runs June 14-17. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/z8z8. Registration is due May 22.

• The Glenn Korff School of Music's Nebraska Show Choir Camp is for students entering grades 9 through 12 and 2015 graduates who love singing and dancing. The camp runs June 14-20. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/50c. Registration is due May 22.

• The Cornhusker Summer Marching Band Camp fosters leadership, marching fundamentals, and performance skills in all areas of the high school marching band. The age range of campers is students entering 9th grade through leaving 12th grade (including graduates). The camp runs July 5-9. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/80jc. • The Middle School Band Camp runs July 8-12. It is for students entering the 6th grade through leaving 8th grade. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/0ty. Registration is due June 5.

• There are two camps offered through Nebraska 4-H's Big Red Summer Academic Camps. The first is Digital Arts Camp June 7-12. This camp is for students in grades 10-12 (as of Fall 2015). Students will learn the fundamentals of music, photography, and video design, utilizing the latest software and techniques from professionals in the field in the Digital Arts facilities at UNL. The second Big Red Summer Academic Camp offered is Discover Filmmaking, June 7-12. This camp is also for students in grades 10-12 (as of Fall 2015). This movie-making adventure will allow you to actually make a film and spend time in the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. For more information, visit http://go.unl.edu/xu8j.
