Doctoral student Olufemi Abimbola received this school year's Widaman Distinguished Graduate Assistantship in recognition of his outstanding performance as a graduate student.

"Winning the Widaman Distinguished Graduate Assistantship really made me proud," Abimbola said. "This wouldn't have been possible without the help of my advisor, faculty, staff and colleagues. It will go a long way in helping me to achieve my goals at UNL. I hope to continue the good work of making BSE proud."

The $2,000 award is funded through the Widaman Trust, which was established in 1975 through a gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation from Blanch Widaman.

Widaman asked that the income from the trust be used by the university for research in agriculture and that the funds support people rather than pay for supplies or equipment. She suggested the money be used for fellowships for graduate students conducting basic research in agriculture.
