Here's a "101" on 2014 Engineering Week at UNL:

* April 21-24, engineering students celebrate with Laser Tag, a Mr. & Ms. Engineer Pageant and more. This year's theme is "Perfect the existing ... Create the impossible," according to E-Week Co-Chairs Lauren Wondra and Keith Ozanne, both seniors who study Biological Systems Engineering.

* April 25 is the college's 101st annual Open House, a free public event. More than 500 middle school and high school students will view senior project displays, tour laboratories and try hands-on activities, including building protective devices for eggs to be dropped from the roof of Othmer Hall.

Olympic medals-winning bobsledder Curt Tomasevicz, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at UNL, will speak April 25 at 10:30 a.m. during the Open House in Othmer Hall. For more about Tomasevicz, see http://go.unl.edu/8zs4.
