CSE Ambassadors are accepting applications for new members.

CSE Ambassadors are a Recognized Student Organization for Computer Science and Engineering students who wish to use their talents to give back to the community. The group focuses on educating the community about computing and using our skills to provide services for those who cannot otherwise afford them. This includes outreach, promoting diversity and equality in the field, education, helping to bridge the digital divide and building software tools to benefit organizations in need.

The intent of this student organization is to establish a network of like-minded individuals who have computer science and engineering skills, are motivated to further develop their skills, and are willing to apply their knowledge and skills to serve others. The intent of the organization is not to dictate how students get involved, but rather provide guidance and support to connect members to mutually beneficial projects that are suited to their specific interests and community needs. By promoting a diverse and collaborative environment we strive to be a whole that is greater than the sum of our parts.

CSE Ambassadors goals for this year include:

• Hosting a robotics club at Culler Middle School to introduce fundamentals and the career opportunities of computer science
• Hosting regular seminars educating community members about technology
• Hosting open development “sprints” or small-scale hack-a-thons on a regular basis
• Developing software tools for other student organizations or local nonprofits
• Developing an open resource base that can be built upon and used in several schools in the future

The CSE Ambassadors welcome motivated and committed computer science, computer engineering and software engineering students to join the group. Full training can be provided for all activities. You only need your technical skills, a motivation to serve others and enthusiasm for computer science and engineering.

Interested students can contact and send questions to cse_ambassadors@unl.edu.
