To help prepare future and current teachers lead classes on statistics, NCTM and the American Statistical Association are calling on universities and school administrators across the country to provide high-quality training and professional-development opportunities. In response to the rise in prominence of statistics, "teachers of mathematics and others who will teach statistics must have deep knowledge and understanding of statistics and the way that students learn the subject," assert ASA and NCTM in their joint statement at http://www.nctm.org/news/content.aspx?id=35984.
