CoJMC career opportunity
CoJMC career opportunity

KVOE, a leader in Kansas mid-market radio, needs an ambitious news anchor/reporter to serve the Emporia area. KVOE embodies the "Live and Local" mantra it has used as its positioning statement for years. Our stations reach approximately 55,000 people in seven counties. The KVOE News department consistently wins awards for its coverage of local news, events and causes, including the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Award (2012), Kansas Association of Broadcasters Tony Jewell Community Service Award (2010) and numerous individual awards just in the last decade. Our three-station cluster airs over 100 newscasts and on-air updates weekly, with all on-air stories posted online and frequent daily alerts on Facebook and Twitter.

Crisp writing style, clean delivery, passion for reporting meaningful stories and willingness to be a community leader are all prerequisites. Severe weather coverage is a must; experience preferred. Schedule flexibility and basic computer skills are necessary. High sense of autonomy expected along with ability to follow specific directions in certain situations. Experience with Skylla, Cool Edit and KLZ Newsroom all preferred but will train. Must move to Emporia if not currently a resident. Send aircheck MP3, resume and two writing samples to samplesc@kvoe.com.

Call 800-279-1964 or 620-344-1397 for inquiries or questions.

Note: News Director Chuck Samples is a CoJMC BRDC alum.
