Capital Semester will give you an insider’s view of Washington, the city where news and history are made every day. Get political journalism experience in the city where the journalistic landscape is shaped and interact with nation’s best journalists and policy-makers.
Spend a semester in the nation’s capital with 40 students from around the country and the globe who are all passionate about politics in DC and around the world, getting the story straight and learning the ins and outs of how to be a successful journalist. The intensive schedule is designed to maximize your time in Washington by combining learning in the classroom with practical internship experience.

Program Format
Capital Semester consists of the following major components:
LIVE: Housing in historic furnished apartments in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, the oldest residential neighborhood in DC. Just blocks from the US Capitol, the Library of Congress, & the Supreme Court
LEARN: Academic courses in international economics and government accredited by George Mason University.
INTERN: Internships with newspapers, international news outlets, magazines, public relations firms, as well as television and radio stations throughout the Washington area.
CONNECT: Site briefings at key Washington institutions, guest lectures and panel discussions featuring public policy experts, foreign correspondents, workings journalists and communication professionals as well as professional development seminars, networking events, and much more!
