Special Events Student Internship, Alzheimer's Association

Program and Services Student Internship Description:
The internship program is designed to give participants firsthand experience in community engagement and relationship building, and special event development, implementation, and evaluation. The Special Events Intern is responsible for assisting the Development department in tasks related to the planning, organization and execution of the several Fundraising/awareness special events. This is an excellent opportunity to improve your knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, strengthen oral and written communication skills, and improve marketing abilities, including highlighting the benefits to the organization/group through the partnership with the events.

Essential Position Functions:
• Make calls to solicit auction items/donations
• Distribute information on events
• Track participants and responses
• Attend and assist in the execution of special events.
• Collecting, sorting and organizing data and ability to compile into presentation format 4 hours / week
• Update and maintain both paper and electronic files related to event participants, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind donations
• Assist in general office administration for the Special Events
• Participate in in-office training, and community activities (e.g. health fairs, lunch and learns) to improve understanding of Chapter programs/services and the communities served.

Compensation:
This is a rewarding internship position in a great working environment with wonderful opportunities for professional growth. The Alzheimer’s Association will work with the college or university to provide proper credit and oversight. Financial compensation is not provided.

Workdays:
The internship is 15-20 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Includes occasional weekends. The Alzheimer’s Association will work with the student to accommodate their schedule. School holidays and vacations will be respected.

Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Progress toward Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Public Health, Business (e.g. Marketing, Administration, Finance), Non-Profit Management, Marketing
• Experience: History of event planning and execution
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel) and Google
• One or more semester commitment
• Some travel is required
