KSNB-TV is looking for a dynamic reporter who craves good storytelling, an in-depth assignment, the chance to ask tough questions and as many opportunities to go live as possible. The video journalist has the unique opportunity to report for as many as seven stations in Nebraska as part of the Nebraska News & Information Network. He or She must be flexible each day with what types of stories he/she will cover. He or she will get fill-in anchor opportunities which have lead to other opportunities within our group of stations in Nebraska (KOLN/KGIN, WOWT, KNOP/KNPL/KIIT) or within Gray Television.
This position involves strong news judgment along with high levels of motivation, creativity and self-direction.
Duties include, but are not limited to: turning various angles and building different ways of presenting your story of the day; digging into the information that is given to you and finding what matters most to your viewers; asking hard questions; assisting with other live shots when needed; shoot and report live under tight deadlines on-air and on the web involving breaking news situations. The position is also responsible for knowledge of the community and story idea generation while waiting for the next alarm to sound.
Qualifications include: on-air experience and consistency in deadline-driven stories; Experience with a video camera in shooting and editing; Confidence in live-shot reporting; High flexibility and self-motivation are required. News judgment, decisiveness, exceptional writing/grammar skills, positive ability to work well with other staff; a know-how for good storytelling on the web and on social media and willingness to take direction as a team player are essential. Must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station in Hastings or Grand Island, Nebraska and meet physical requirements of the position. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is required.
