Digital Copy Desk Chief, Joel Thornton, will be coming to interview students. The paper offers reporting internships in news, business, features, sports, as well as Al Dia, a Spanish-language newspaper/website. Other internship opportunities include copy editing, audience engagement, digital design and data, and photography.

INTERNSHIPS The Dallas Morning News,

Texas’ leading newspaper, offers internships in news, copy editing, business, features, sports and digital design/data. Internships are also available in photography, at the Washington, D.C., bureau and at our Spanish-language publication, Al Día. Most internship periods take place during the summer, however the sports internship occurs during the fall, generally starting around Labor Day.

ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be enrolled in college and working toward a degree (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate) or they may have graduated within six months prior to the internship start date. Previous daily newspaper experience is requested.

COMPENSATION College internships are

full time for 12 weeks and interns are paid $15.00 an hour for a 40-hour work week. Interns should have a car in good working condition.

SCHEDULES The standard work week is

Monday-Friday, but some weekend, night and holiday shifts may be required. Also, all interns are expected to attend weekly brown bag sessions, an intern bus tour, the intern reception and the publisher’s luncheon.
