Government Reporter, The Grand Island Independent

The Grand Island Independent is seeking a creative, energetic reporter to cover local government in Grand Island. This reporter would be covering Hall County government and Grand Island city government. Grand Island is a growing community of 50,000 and this beat leads to many front page stories

The job is fulltime with hours mostly during the day, but with some weekend and night work. A degree in journalism is preferred, but candidates with practical experience and strong writing skills will be considered.

Grand Island is a retail hub for Central Nebraska. The region has a population of close to 100,000. The area includes the Platte River Valley and the beautiful Sandhills. Each spring, the sandhill crane migration comes through the area.
