Occupy Law School: Thursday, April 5th

Occupy Law School
Thursday, April 5, Noon
Location TBA

Bring your lunch and join ACS, EJS and Professor Wilson for an engaging conversation about how (or if) the Occupy movement is making a difference in the U.S.

The discussion will include Who are "the 99%"? What is "Occupy"? and What does this movement mean for lawyers?

The current economic structure doesn't take place in a vacuum - it is maintained by laws. Laws which we study and will use, as lawyers, in the very near future. Will we be lawyers "for the 99%"? Or will we be part of a system that is set up to keep the 1% on top? Is this Occupy critique valid? Is the current system set up to benefit the 1%? Is it harming the 99%? Is it designed to keep the 99% fighting for the same piece of the pie? What would a more equitable economic system look like? Is redistribution of wealth really an encroachment upon liberties? Or is the current system set up in a way that allows some to succeed, while guaranteeing that others will fail?
