Now is the chance for rural elementary teachers at high-needs schools in Nebraska to apply to become Noyce Master Teaching Fellows through NebraskaSTEM!”
What you get if selected:
*Free master’s degree from UNL, focused on integrated STEM for elementary teaching
*$10,500 annual stipend (after earning your master’s degree) for 4 years
*Opportunities to engage in STEM-related leadership
*Ways to help improve student achievement in STEM and your school’s AQuESTT and motivate students with integrated science, technology, engineering and mathematics tasks
5-year Fellowship:
Year 1
(Summer 2018-Summer 2019)
*Earn a master’s degree focused on rural STEM education
*Take classes on UNL campus for 3 weeks in Summer 2018 and Summer 2019, and online classes during the school year
*Receive a stipend for full tuition and fees plus living/travel expenses for summer coursework (up to $18,500)
Years 2-5
(Fall 2019-Summer 2023)
*Take part in teacher leadership professional development
*Join an online community of NebraskaSTEM fellows
*Develop and implement a STEM Initiative for your own school
*Attend and present at STEM professional conferences
*Become an elementary STEM leader and mentor
*Join a nationwide community of Noyce Master Teaching Fellows
*$10,500 annual stipend (in addition to teacher salary)
Eligibility Requirements:
*Bachelor’s degree and K-6 Nebraska teaching certification or birth to grade 3 teaching certification
*Committed to teaching in a rural Nebraska, high-need school for the 5-year duration of the project
*Demonstrated knowledge of STEM subject areas
*Max of one teacher per school will be admitted
*3 or more years of teaching experience is preferred
Application Requirements:
*Application deadline is May 1
*Letter of support from building principal
*2 additional letters of recommendation
*Resume/CV
*Nebraska teaching certificate
*College transcripts (official)
*Admission Essay (should include a commitment to teaching STEM in a high-need rural Nebraska school and also evidence of demonstrated success in improving student achievement in mathematics and/or science)
*Praxis I/Praxis Core/GRE scores dated 2008 or later; If you do not have scores, you must take the GRE or Praxis II Subject Assessments: Mathematics subtest (#5003) and Science subtest (#5005). Tests can be scheduled through http://www.ets.org and must be taken no later than April 15 to ensure scores are received before the May 1 deadline.
