Texas-based installation artist Beili Liu will give the illustrated talk "Drawn With a Thread," 6 p.m., Aug. 25 in Home Economics Building, room 11.

Liu's lecture is in conjunction with her exhibit, "Strain," on display through Sept. 9 in the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery.

Born in Jilin, China, Liu is an associate professor in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work evokes transience and fragility through material exploration and transformation of space.

The Friends of the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery will host a reception immediately following the lecture outside the gallery. Liu's exhibition is made possible with support from the UNL Convocations Committee, the Friends of the Gallery, and the Women and Gender Studies program.

Admission to the lecture and the exhibit is free.
