The Wellness Kitchen is the perfect environment to learn to cook or expand your skills. The state-of-the-art Kitchen opened two years ago inside the Rec & Wellness Center on East Campus and frequently hosts classes by its on-staff Registered Dietitian and Dietetic Interns. Classes are open to the public and can accommodate all special dietary needs. The first three classes this fall include:

FOODIE FRIDAY: PRAIRIE PLATE
Fri., Sept. 15 | 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. | $10/person
Calling all foodies! Join us for a unique twist on cooking. Nebraska organizations will prepare lunch and teach you about their special ingredients for creating the perfect meal.
In today's session, connect with Prairie Plate from right here in Lincoln. Participants will learn about the farm-to-fork method of cooking.

COOKING AROUND THE WORLD: JAPANESE CUISINE
Thurs., Sept. 28 | 5-6 p.m. | $15/person
In this series, you'll learn various techniques and dishes from cultures around the world. Each class includes a cooking coach that will lead you through each step of the cooking experience and conclude with enjoying a delicious meal together. The Kawasaki Reading Room will be teaching how to cook Japanese cuisine for the September Class.

COOKING ON A BUDGET
Wedn., Oct. 11 | 5-6 p.m. | $5/person
Prepare an appetizing, yet budget-friendly meal in this partnership class with the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union. A cooking coach will lead participants through cooking (and then enjoying!) Skillet Chili with Corn Biscuits. Participants will also learn valuable tips on how to meet their MyPlate dietary goals on a budget by buying fresh fruits and veggies in season; choosing budget-friendly recipes; planning out their weekly grocery shopping list; and calculating unit prices to get the best deal.
