UNL Parents Weekend is Oct. 1-3

The UNL Parents Association in conjunction with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will host the 2010 UNL Parents Weekend Oct. 1-3.

All parents and family members are welcome to register to attend with their student or students. This event is an opportunity for parents and students to spend time together and to learn more about the UNL campuses.

Scheduled activities include: Friday night Welcome Dinner with a performance by the Bathtub Dogs; faculty presentations ("Storm Chasing with Students as a Research and Public Service Activity" with meteorologist Kenneth Dewey and "Cornhusker Criminalistics!" with forensic entomologist David Carter); and a reception on East Campus the morning of Oct. 2 where students can invite a faculty member or adviser to visit with his or her family in an informal social setting and can invite a friend to play a wide variety of games.

Families will also have the opportunity to learn more about the possibility and benefits of participating in a Study Abroad Program and to tour the International Quilt Study Center and Museum or the Larsen Tractor Museum. Participants will enjoy a buffet lunch at the Hewit Center training table in Memorial Stadium, tour the stadium and have a photo opportunity on the field with Lil' Red and UNL cheerleaders.
