Gamma Sigma Delta selects Wilhite as Award of Merit recipient

The Nebraska Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture, has selected Don Wilhite, climatologist and professor, as the 2014 recipient of the Award of Merit.

Wilhite will be presented with the society's most prestigious award at the 2014 Initiation and Awards Banquet on Jan. 26. Other faculty and student awards will also be given at that time.

"It is truly an honor to receive the Award of Merit from Gamma Sigma Delta in recognition of the research and outreach activities in drought management, planning and policy that I have been involved in at the state, national and international level during my career at UNL," Wilhite said.

Gamma Sigma Delta is an international honor society dedicated to recognizing accomplishments in agricultural sciences, natural resources, education and human sciences and biological systems engineering.

Seniors with high scholastic achievement, graduate students, professional staff, university faculty and alumni within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the College of Education and Human Sciences and the Department of Biological Systems Engineering are eligible for membership in the society.
