Several publications by School of Natural Resources faculty and staff have drawn the attention of media. This list is not comprehensive.

“Occurrence and Potential Biological Effects of Amphetamine on Stream Communities,” by Sylvia S. Lee, Alexis M. Paspalof, Daniel D. Snow, Erinn K. Richmond, Emma J. Rosi-Marshall and John J. Kelly .

The presence of pharmaceuticals, including illicit drugs in aquatic systems, is a topic of environmental significance because of their global occurrence and potential effects on aquatic ecosystems and human health, but few studies have examined the ecological effects of illicit drugs. This study demonstrates that amphetamine and other biologically active drugs are present in urban streams and have the potential to affect both structure and function of stream communities. "New Tools for Assessing Drought Conditions for Rangeland Management," Cody Knutson and Brian Fuchs of the National Drought Mitigation Center.

The National Drought Mitigation Center and its partners worked with stakeholders to develop a range of new drought assessment and monitoring products in recent years, described in this article featuring a variety of drought-monitoring tools. The article is available here.

"The effects of extreme drought on climate change beliefs, risk perceptions, and adaptation attitudes," by J. Stuart Carlton, Amber S. Mase, Cody L. Knutson, Maria Carmen Lemos, Tonya Haigh, Dennis P. Todey and Linda S. Prokopy.

Whether or not firsthand experience with extreme events shapes people’s perceptions of climate change and galvanizes them to take action has been the focus of growing attention in the risk management literature and in policy circles. This article tackles this concept. It is available here.
