University Health Center presentations are Nov. 13-14

Presentations by Bryan Health regarding its response to the request for proposals for a new University Health Center will be Nov. 13 and 14. The presentations will be made throughout the day to maximize the opportunity for students, health center employees, faculty and staff to attend.

Each presentation will be scheduled to last 60 minutes. The majority of time will be dedicated to questions from the audience. Every presentation will be tailored to a particular campus group — students, UHC employees, and faculty/staff. However, each presentation is open to anyone.

Individuals unable to attend can watch the 4:45 p.m. Nov. 13 presentation live online at http://stuafs.unl.edu. The session will also be recorded and available for later viewing on the same website.

The presentation schedule is:

Tuesday, Nov. 13, Nebraska Union Colonial Room
1 p.m. — Faculty and staff
2:15 p.m. — Students
3:30 p.m. — Faculty and staff
4:45 p.m. — Students (streamed live at http://stuafs.unl.edu and recorded)

Wednesday, Nov. 14, Kauffman Center Great Hall
8 a.m. — University Health Center employees
9:15 a.m. — University Health Center employees
10:30 a.m. — Students

After the campus presentations, the committee responsible for evaluating Bryan Health’s proposal will decide whether to recommend moving to the next stage in the process — contract negotiations. Those negotiations may or may not result in a contractual agreement. Any agreement would require approval of UNL’s senior administration and the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Highlights of the Bryan Health proposal include freezing student fees until May 2015, continuing all existing services and hours of operation, construction of a new facility, and extending UNL’s commitment of 90 days of employment for UHC staff to a minimum of one year (through May 2014). All parts of the proposal are subject to change if contract negotiations are undertaken.
