On Dec. 4, UNL's East Campus engineering programs will host the annual Incredible, Edible Car Competition starting at 2 p.m. in the East Union.

The event caps off E-Day, an open house for prospective students in agricultural and biological systems engineering, gathering senior project displays and potential employers to meet with students.

The cars compete in distance and durability as they roll down ramps. The constraints are the components, which must be edible, and their cost, which must be less than $10 per team. More than 20 teams will participate this year, with three or four students each. Teams have had several weeks to design, shop, build prototypes, test and tweak. After the competition, while the judges tally the scores, the teams must eat their creations.

The event will also include exhibits and displays by upperclassmen, area companies and alumni. The student displays include 20 instrumentation projects and the work of three senior design teams.
