Nebraska 4-H educates youth about making healthy and safe decisions in their daily lives. Through health and wellness programs, youth practice critical life skills, including personal safety, decision making, and self-responsibility.

The Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health (CS-CASH), in partnership with Nebraska Extension, host Tractor and Equipment Safety Certification Courses across the state of Nebraska every year. This year's trainings will be offered across the state in May and June 2025.

Federal law restricts youth under 16 from using farm equipment unless parents or guardians own the farm. However, 14 and 15-year olds can earn an exemption by completing a two-day certification course, which includes a written test and driving exam. Successful completion allows them to operate tractors and certain mechanized equipment on farms and ranches, and to obtain a husbandry permit.
