FACET: Facilitating Constructive Engineering Talk
My name is Becky Swanson and I’m one of the 4-H STEM Specialists at Nebraska 4-H. I’m leading a research team conducting a study on how educators talk to youth during engineering activities in afterschool or other out-of-school-time programs, and how youth respond. We are about to start Year 2 of a four-year National Science Foundation-funded project.
I’m looking for 4-H Educators and Assistants to teach a series of approximately six engineering lessons outside of school time for upper elementary-aged youth (ages 8-12), in your 4-H county or counties.
4-H Educators and Assistants who participate in this study will receive a $1000/year honorarium and professional development around teaching engineering.
Between September 2-16, interested 4-H Educators and Assistants, of any rank or STEM teaching experience level are invited to apply to participate via the Qualtrics Consent Form: https://go.unl.edu/facetyear2. We are looking for up to 15 new participants to join us this fall, for the next three years.
For more information about the project, or to express your interest in participating, please visit https://go.unl.edu/facetyear2 or email me directly at at rebecca.swanson@unl.edu.
