Science Literacy Research Assistant Needed
Are you interested in how people think about science, what motivates people to make certain decisions, or how emotions affect people’s reasoning? If so, we’d love to talk with you! We are a team of science literacy researchers at UNL looking for an organized, motivated, and detail-oriented undergraduate to work with us on a research project investigating how students learn about science. No specific science content knowledge is needed – this position would be an excellent fit for anyone interested in science, education, sociology, or anyone looking to gain experience in educational or sociological research!
Responsibilities: The research assistant will be an integral part of the research team, starting with data management tasks (i.e., entering and organizing data) and assisting in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. There is potential for growth towards developing an independent research project after gaining experience in research methods and exploring relevant literature.

Benefits: The research assistant will be independently mentored by a postdoctoral researcher to develop research skills. They will gain experience with selected qualitative and quantitative research methods, peer-reviewed literature regarding science literacy, and may have the opportunity to contribute to project presentation at professional meetings and/or writing for peer-reviewed literature. This is a unique experience for someone interested in qualitative research and/or science literacy and will help develop their research skill set and understanding of science literacy research.

The position has flexible hours and locations with pay starting at $10.50 per hour, working approximately 10 hours per week during the spring semester (actual time may range from 5 to 15 hours per week depending on specific tasks). We would like someone to start immediately following the interview process. There are opportunities for extending the position into the summer or fall semester.
